Hyundai Construction Equipment has released the first official images of its new HX19e mini excavator, marking the South Korean manufacturer’s entry into battery-electric construction machinery. The HX19e will be Hyundai’s first electric excavator to enter series production, with manufacturing set to begin in April.

The HX19e will be available with a choice of a 32 kWh or 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Hyundai claims the 40 kWh variant provides up to 6 hours and 40 minutes of continuous operation, with break-time charging allowing for full-shift usability.

Power is delivered to a 13 kW (17.5 hp) electric motor, which drives an open-center hydraulic system that, according to Hyundai, matches or exceeds the performance of the diesel-powered HX19A.

The excavator offers a 16 kN bucket breakout force and a 9.4 kN dipper arm breakout force. Its maximum digging depth is 7.6 feet, with a maximum digging reach of 12.9 feet. Hyundai will offer the HX19e with four selectable options: an enclosed cab or open canopy, and either a 32 kWh or 40 kWh battery pack.

Standard features include safety valves on the main boom, dipper arm, and dozer blade hydraulic cylinders, as well as auxiliary hydraulic piping for a range of attachments. The HX19e also comes equipped with quick coupler hydraulics, LED boom lights, a rotating beacon, an MP3 radio with USB connectivity, and a mechanically suspended operator’s seat.

The machine will feature an automotive-style charging port, enabling compatibility with fleet depots and public charging infrastructure. Hyundai is expected to announce further details on specifications, dimensions, and pricing at the upcoming bauma trade fair.
