Hyundai Motor will discontinue the standard versions of its Hyundai Ioniq 6 in the United States starting with the 2026 model year, leaving only the high-performance Hyundai Ioniq 6 N available in limited quantities.

The company said the upcoming performance model will remain part of its U.S. lineup, though availability is expected to be restricted.

The Ioniq 6 sedan is currently produced in South Korea, unlike several other Hyundai electric vehicles sold in the U.S. market. Models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the recently introduced Hyundai Ioniq 9 are manufactured at Hyundai’s facility near Savannah, which reduces exposure to import tariffs and logistics costs.

The move marks another adjustment in Hyundai’s U.S. EV strategy. The automaker previously confirmed it would not introduce the 2026 version of the Hyundai Kona Electric in the country due to weaker demand and sufficient inventory of the 2025 model.

Hyundai’s sister brand Kia has taken a similar step. The company said the 2026 version of the high-performance Kia EV6 GT will not be offered in the United States for the time being.

According to Kia, the EV6 GT—also produced in South Korea and imported into the U.S.—has been delayed because of shifting market conditions. Other variants of the Kia EV6 will remain available and continue to be assembled at Kia’s manufacturing plant in West Point.

The company has not announced a new timeline for the EV6 GT’s return to the U.S. market.

Kia is also postponing the introduction of two additional electric vehicles in the country: the Kia EV4 and the Kia EV3, which had been expected to expand the brand’s electric portfolio in the United States.
