Hyundai provides electric vehicle and e-buses at FIFA World Cup 2022

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar officially started last Sunday, November 20, 2022. Qatar wants to host the first carbon neutral World Cup by deploying various electric vehicles.

Hyundai is the main sponsor of the 2022 Qatar World Cup by supplying 10 Hyundai Elec City electric buses for the transportation of athletes, staff and coaches. A total of 226 electric cars and 10 Hyundai electric buses for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The Korean manufacturer provides vehicles for referees, FIFA staff and VIPs, namely the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Sonata HEV, Hyundai Tucson HEV, Kona HEV and Genesis G80 EV.

KIA is also the main sponsor at the 2022 World Cup. There are 80 electric car models such as the EV6 GT, Hyundai Sorento PHEV and Niro PHEV. KIA also provides petrol passenger cars, such as the Kia Carnival, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride.

A total of 297 petrol engine cars were prepared in Qatar. KIA also provides 70 special buses for spectators.

Chinese electric car company Yutong is taking part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by supplying 741 electric buses to shuttle spectators to the stadium. Yutong even equipped its bus fleet with more than 200 operating personnel and more than 3,000 drivers.

To support electric cars as official operational vehicles for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, FIFA is providing a 100 to 150 kW charging network in the car parks.
