Hyundai prepares hundreds of electric cars and buses for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

As the official sponsor of the 2022 World Cup which will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, Hyundai Motor Company has prepared electric vehicles in the form of cars and buses as a means of transportation to and from the stadium.

Hyundai has prepared 446 passenger vehicles for use by FIFA officials and staff. In addition to electric vehicles, Hyundai is also preparing hybrid vehicles to support zero emissions and support environmental friendliness.

Hyundai has also prepared 10 electric buses for Elec City, Sonata hybrid, Tucson hybrid, Kona and Ioniq 5 all-electric, for FIFA VIP ranks and staff will use Genesis G80 and GV70 EVs electric vehicles.

To ensure the service runs smoothly, a dedicated team from Hyundai Motor’s Middle East region, and the Middle East Regional Quality Center will be on standby in a dedicated room located in FIFA’s parking facilities to assist with operations. They will have access to the Qatar dealer service infrastructure if repairs are required.

“Hyundai Motor and FIFA have a strong commitment to making this year’s event a sustainable success through the use of clean mobility,” said Hyundai Motor Company President and CEO Jaehoon Chang.

According to Jaehoon, this month Hyundai has started a training program for drivers who will drive Hyundai vehicles during the Qatar 2022 World Cup. They will be taught how to use hybrid and electric vehicles properly.

“By providing electric and hybrid vehicles and environmentally friendly batteries, we as land transporters hope to achieve our common goal of making the World Cup in Qatar a win-win for planet earth and humanity,” he said.

The Elec City bus itself has a capacity of 27 passengers with 256 and 128 kwh batteries. If the bus runs consistently at a speed of 73 Kph, then the bus mileage can reach 290 km on a single charge.
