Hyundai is gearing up to introduce an upgraded version of its Ioniq 6 electric sedan in May 2025, according to reports from Korean media. The new model is expected to feature several cosmetic enhancements and technical updates, serving as a timely replacement for the current model launched in June 2022.
The revamped Ioniq 6 is likely to undergo production not only at Hyundai Motor Company’s (HMC) existing plant in Asan, South Korea but also at the upcoming Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) facility in Ellabell, Georgia, USA. This move would enable Hyundai to qualify for federal government incentives of up to $7,500 in the US, under the US Inflation Reduction Act 2022.

Production of the new Ioniq 6 is slated to commence in May 2025, initially targeting the South Korean market, followed by the Euro-spec version in August and the North American model in November of the same year. The company aims to manufacture 60,000 units annually at its domestic plant.
Key upgrades expected in the facelifted Ioniq 6 include subtle exterior changes such as revised bumpers, updated headlamp and tail lamp clusters, and new alloy wheels. Inside, the sedan is likely to feature a new three-spoke steering wheel with interactive pixel lights and Hands-On Detection (HOD), along with the ‘connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC)’ infotainment system.

The new Ioniq 6 is expected to be equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack, offering improved range and performance over the current model. This battery pack is part of Hyundai’s fourth-generation lineup, boasting higher energy density and improved efficiency.
Additionally, Hyundai is reportedly planning to introduce a high-performance variant of the Ioniq 6, the Ioniq 6 N, which will feature a more powerful powertrain than the Ioniq 5 N. The Ioniq 6 N is expected to debut in September 2025, with a European launch likely in early 2026. The company plans to produce 6,000 units of the Ioniq 6 N annually at its Asan plant.
