Hyundai Motor Company and Skoda Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at collaborating on the establishment of a hydrogen mobility ecosystem. The signing ceremony occurred during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague, attended by Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President at Hyundai, and Petr Novotný, CEO of Skoda Group.

The MOU outlines several initiatives, including the study of hydrogen fuel cell systems and technologies, the exploration of energy-efficient solutions for mobility projects, and the development of opportunities within the hydrogen ecosystem beyond mobility applications.

Ramírez emphasized the partnership’s goal to accelerate hydrogen adoption, contributing to advancements in hydrogen technology and carbon neutrality across global markets, particularly in the Czech Republic. He noted, “Together with Skoda Group, we strive to lead the rapidly growing hydrogen businesses by creating positive synergies between our fuel cell technology and Skoda Group’s mobility products.”

Novotný echoed these sentiments, stating, “Hydrogen, alongside energy-efficient solutions, will play an essential role in transforming mobility for a more sustainable future.” He added that the collaboration would enable both companies to explore wider markets and bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to the global mobility ecosystem.

The MOU also suggests that Hyundai may share its fuel cell systems and technologies, enhancing eco-friendly mobility in markets where Skoda Group operates. Additionally, the companies will conduct feasibility studies for the application of fuel cell systems beyond traditional mobility, leveraging Hyundai’s expertise in hydrogen applications across both mobility and energy sectors.

Hyundai is committed to fostering a hydrogen society through its HTWO brand, which encompasses the entire hydrogen value chain, while Skoda Group aims to capitalize on these developments to advance cleaner energy solutions.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC), established in 2008, is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 350,000 vehicles, representing the largest foreign investment in the Czech Republic.
