It’s no secret that Hyundai is developing an electric hatchback under the umbrella of the high-performance N division.
Even though it’s electric, Hyundai still wants a tuned electric car to offer a pleasant driving experience like the previous N model.
In an interview with CarExpert, Hyundai Technical Advisor Albert Biermann explained that it’s not just a feeling of vibration during gear changes, but that they wanted the Ioniq 5 N to produce a DCT sound and experience nearly the same as the i30 N hot hatch model.
For this reason, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will be presented with a Virtual Grin Shift (VGN) feature to activate virtual gear change mode accompanied by a sound system made by N Sound Plus. The fake sound system is currently being tuned by Hyundai to produce a suitable engine sound.
There is also a special drift mode, as well as stronger brake force adjustments for the regenerative braking system that is being planned.
The specifications for the Ioniq 5 N haven’t been officially announced yet, but Albert Biermann has revealed that it is capable of producing around 600 hp with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h which may be faster than the Kia EV6 GT.
