Hyundai has opened orders for the new Ioniq 3 in the UK, with the compact electric car now eligible for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant across its range.
After the grant is applied, prices start at £18,495 on the road for the Advance 42kWh model and £21,995 for the Advance 61kWh version. The range extends to £28,195 for the Ioniq 3 N Line Evo.
Existing Ioniq 3 reservation holders will also benefit from the grant when converting their reservations into full orders. Instead of the £1,500 Hyundai Reservation Saving originally offered, customers will receive the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
Hyundai Targets Wider EV Accessibility
Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai Motor UK, said customer interest in the Ioniq 3 has exceeded that of any previous new Hyundai model introduced in the UK.
“Securing the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant across every version means we can now turn that interest into orders at a price that puts a genuinely spacious, long-range electric car within reach of far more drivers.”
The first Ioniq 3 vehicles are expected to arrive at Hyundai retailers during the month, giving customers an opportunity to view the new model before taking delivery.
Hyundai positions the Ioniq 3 as a compact EV combining aerodynamic efficiency with practicality. The model is also intended to deliver efficiency improvements over the Kia EV2 while retaining its compact dimensions and everyday usability.
Ioniq 3 Uses 400V E-GMP Architecture
Hyundai designed and developed the Ioniq 3 primarily in Germany at its technical development centre in Rüsselsheim. The model uses Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform in its 400V configuration, which determines several of its key technical characteristics.
Hyundai also plans to manufacture the Ioniq 3 in Europe at its production facility in Izmit, Türkiye.
The electric car is available with two battery options. The Standard Range version uses a 42.2 kWh battery, while the Long Range model has a 61 kWh battery.
Interestingly, the smaller battery is paired with the more powerful motor. The Standard Range version produces 108 kW, compared with 99.5 kW for the Long Range model.
Ioniq 3 Offers Up to 496 km of Range
Charging performance is rated at up to 119 kW for the Standard Range model and 110 kW for the Long Range version. Both can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 29 to 30 minutes.
An optional 22 kW onboard charger is also available for AC charging.
The Ioniq 3’s main advantage over the Kia EV2 is its aerodynamic efficiency and resulting range. The Standard Range version can travel up to 344 km, while the Long Range model offers up to 496 km.
For a compact electric car measuring around 4.15 metres in length, the Long Range model’s near-500-km range gives the Ioniq 3 a combination of compact dimensions and extended driving capability.
Ioniq 3 Now Available to Order
The Hyundai Ioniq 3 is now available to order through Hyundai retailers across the UK. Customers can configure the vehicle and view specifications and pricing including the Electric Car Grant through Hyundai UK’s online configurator.
The addition of the Ioniq 3 to the UK grant-eligible lineup gives Hyundai another compact electric model alongside the Kona Electric, with the new EV targeting drivers seeking a combination of affordability, range and practicality.
