Hyundai Canada Announces Arrival of Ioniq 6 Electric Sedan This Spring Starting at $54,999

Hyundai Canada has just announced the pricing of the Ioniq 6 electric sedan, a larger and sleeker follow-up to the previously released Ioniq 5. The company has set the base price for the Ioniq 6 at $54,999, with all three models of the new electric sedan eligible for government rebates.

One of the most exciting features of the Ioniq 6 is its ultra-fast charging capabilities, with a battery system capable of charging at speeds of up to 350 kW. This means the battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in as little as 18 minutes, making it a convenient and practical option for drivers on the go.

In addition to its fast charging capabilities, the Ioniq 6 also boasts impressive battery range. The base model, the Ioniq 6 Preferred RWD Long Range, has an estimated range of 581 kilometres, 100 kilometres more than the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 6 Preferred AWD Long Range and the Preferred AWD Long Range with Ultimate Package offer slightly less range but still impressive numbers of 509 km and 435 km, respectively.

Under the hood, the Ioniq 6 delivers 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque in rear-drive, single-motor mode, while the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version packs considerably more punch with 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds.

The interior of the Ioniq 6 is just as impressive, with a driver display featuring a pair of 12.3-inch screens and a full package of collision warning, lane assist, drive assist and cruise control features. It also comes with battery pre-heater and charge prep, making it a practical option for Canadian winters. The Ioniq 6 is also the first Hyundai with over-the-air update capability, meaning drivers can receive updates without needing to visit a dealership.

Hyundai Canada has also emphasized its use of eco-friendly materials in the Ioniq 6’s interior, including recycled PET bottles and fishing nets, plant-based plastic yarns, eco-processed leather and bio paint with plant-based extracts. This commitment to sustainability is in line with Hyundai’s plan to introduce 17 battery electric vehicles by 2030.

Overall, the Ioniq 6 is an impressive addition to Hyundai Canada’s electric vehicle lineup, offering fast charging, impressive range, and a commitment to sustainability in its design. The sedan will be available at Canadian dealers starting this spring, making it an exciting option for drivers looking to make the switch to electric.
