The Hyptec SSR, an electric supercar developed by GAC and formerly known as the Hyper SSR, has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest drift speed achieved by an electric vehicle.

The record was confirmed at 213.523 kph during a controlled test session, the company announced on social media.

The record attempt was performed by driver Ye Zhicheng, who was required to sustain a drift angle of at least 30 degrees while exceeding 207 kph across a minimum distance of 50 metres.

The verified result of 213.523 kph surpassed the criteria by a considerable margin. According to GAC Aion, the run was filmed as part of a promotional short tied to China’s 15th National Games.

First unveiled in 2022 under GAC’s Hyper brand—now rebranded as Hyptec—the SSR is positioned as a high-performance electric supercar with three available versions: Standard, Ultimate, and Track.

In China, pricing begins at 1.286 million yuan (around USD 156,000), rising to 1.386 million yuan (around EUR 168,000) and 1.686 million yuan (around EUR 204,000) for the higher-performance variants.
