China’s tech giant Huawei, in collaboration with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), has unveiled key specifications of its Maextro S800 sedan, a model under its new automotive brand Maextro. The vehicle, which made a brief appearance at the end of November, is now included in the latest batch of vehicles that have been approved by Chinaâs Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for public comment, marking a significant step toward its official market release.
The Maextro S800 is available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The MIIT catalog lists four versions of the sedan: two EREV models (HFC7150DREEV1 and HFC7150DREEV2) and two BEV models (HFC7000DEV1 and HFC7000DEV2). All variants share the same dimensions, measuring 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm. The sedan is available in both 4-seat and 5-seat configurations.
The EREV versions of the Maextro S800 weigh either 2,731 kg or 2,859 kg and have a top speed of 200 km/h. Meanwhile, the BEV variants weigh between 2,604 kg and 2,731 kg and offer a slightly higher top speed of 210 km/h. Both versions are available in dual-motor and tri-motor configurations. The dual-motor setup features a 160 kW front motor and a 230 kW rear motor, while the tri-motor setup includes a front motor with 160 kW peak power and two rear motors, each producing 237.5 kW.
Huawei, which unveiled the Maextro S800 at a product launch event on November 26, has already started accepting pre-orders. The vehicle, targeting the luxury executive sedan market, is expected to be priced between RMB 1 million ($137,670) and RMB 1.5 million. A deposit of RMB 20,000 is required to reserve the vehicle.
“Maextro S800 is a crucial step forward for Huaweiâs HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) and its ambition to bring luxury electric vehicles to the market,” a company representative said during the product launch. This marks the fourth automotive brand Huawei has created with a local carmaker, following partnerships with BAIC Group for Stelato, Seres Group for Aito, and Chery for Luxeed.
