Maextro, a new automotive brand established through a collaboration between Chinese tech giant Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), is set to debut its first luxury model, the Maextro S800, on November 26. The unveiling will coincide with the launch of Huawei’s Mate 70 smartphone series, the company announced on Sunday.

The Maextro S800, positioned as a high-end executive sedan, aims to compete with established luxury models, including the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, and Nio ET9. At approximately 5.5 meters in length, the S800 stands as a prominent contender in its segment. Richard Yu, Huawei’s managing director and chairman of the smart car solutions business unit, described the vehicle as having an “impressive exterior” and a “spacious interior” in a video post on Weibo.

Pricing details for the Maextro S800 have yet to be disclosed. As a comparison, the Nio ET9, expected to begin deliveries in March 2025, carries a pre-sale price of RMB 800,000 ($110,410). The Maextro brand is the latest addition to Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance), which also includes Stelato with BAIC Group, Aito with Seres Group, and Luxeed with Chery.

JAC, initially a manufacturing partner for Nio’s vehicles, entered into a strategic partnership with Huawei in December 2022. The collaboration focuses on developing, manufacturing, and selling luxury, smart, internet-connected electric vehicles tailored to meet evolving consumer demands.
