Aito, the new energy-vehicle (NEV) brand supported by Chinese tech giant Huawei, has launched the Ultra range for its M7 SUV, achieving this milestone less than a year after a major update to the model. The M7 Ultra was unveiled at a recent launch event, offering customers two five-seat options and two six-seat options at starting prices ranging from RMB 289,800 to RMB 329,800 ($40,020 to $45,610).
The M7 Ultra is set to begin deliveries on June 2, with Aito targeting 20,000 units in June alone. This ambitious goal is expected to propel the Aito brand to 40,000 units delivered in a single month.
Aito, a premium car brand launched by Seres in collaboration with Huawei in December 2021, has already introduced several successful models, including the Aito M5, Aito M7, and Aito M9.
Originally launched on July 4, 2022, the Aito M7 received an update on September 12, 2023, at one of Huawei’s product events. The previous version of the M7 is available in both five-seater and six-seater versions, including the Plus and Max series, with prices ranging from RMB 249,800 to RMB 329,800.
Despite its updated features, the dimensions of the M7 Ultra remain unchanged, with a length, width, and height of 5,820 mm, 1,945 mm, and 1,760 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
Unlike the previous M7 model, the M7 Ultra is exclusively available in extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, similar to the Plus and Max ranges. This marks a departure from Aito’s other models, the M5 and the M9, which are available in both EREV and battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions.
The M7 Ultra offers customers a choice between single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor variants feature a motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
On the other hand, the dual-motor versions include a front motor with 130 kW and 300 Nm of torque, as well as a rear motor with 200 kW and 360 Nm of torque. This configuration enables the M7 Ultra to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
All M7 Ultra models come equipped with 42 kWh Li-ion ternary batteries, providing a CLTC battery range of 240 km or 210 km. With a full fuel and charge, the model offers a combined CLTC range of 1,300 km or 1,250 km.
One of the standout features of the Ultra series is its LiDAR system, which boasts 192 laser channels. This system supports Huawei’s assisted driving system ADS 2.0 and can be upgraded to Huawei ADS 3.0. In comparison, the Plus series of the M7 does not include LiDAR, while the Max series features a LiDAR with 126 laser channels.
