Aito, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres Group, has filed the M6 as its latest sport utility vehicle, adding a new model to its fast-growing premium new energy vehicle lineup.

The Aito M6 appeared in the latest model catalogue released on Friday by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), marking the final major regulatory step before sales approval. Public feedback on the filing can be submitted between Feb. 7 and Feb. 13.

The five-seat M6 spans four pages in the catalogue and includes four variants, comprising two battery-electric vehicle (BEV) versions and two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions. All variants are produced at Seres’ manufacturing base in Chongqing.

According to the filing, the Aito M6 measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width and 1,736 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. Curb weight ranges from 2,395 kg to 2,565 kg, and the model supports a top speed of 200 km/h.

The EREV variants are powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine used as a range extender, delivering a maximum output of 110 kW. They feature dual electric motors, with 160 kW at the front and 180 kW at the rear. The BEV versions are offered in both single- and dual-motor configurations. The single-motor BEV delivers up to 227 kW, while the dual-motor BEV matches the EREV’s 160 kW front and 180 kW rear motor setup.

Battery supply for all M6 variants comes from CATL, according to the filing. The BEV version is equipped with a 100-kWh ternary lithium-ion battery pack. The EREV versions offer battery capacities of 37 kWh or 53 kWh, using a mix of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and ternary lithium-ion batteries.

The M6 will become the newest addition to Aito’s SUV-only portfolio, which currently includes the M5, M7, M8 and flagship M9, all available in BEV and EREV configurations. The brand is the first launched under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) and has seen rapid growth in recent years.

On Jan. 13, Aito marked the production of its one-millionth vehicle. Earlier this week, Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive director and chairman of its consumer business group, said on social media platform Weibo that the Aito M6 is scheduled to be officially unveiled this spring.
