Stelato, the new brand collaboration between tech giant Huawei and BAIC BluePark, the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has debuted its inaugural model, the Stelato S9. This executive sedan marks Huawei’s significant entry into the EV market and was unveiled at the 2024 Beijing auto show, which commenced today.
The Stelato S9 boasts a spacious cabin with 3,460 mm of usable space, rivaling luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8L. Equipped with digital rear mirrors and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels, the Stelato S9 represents another flagship model supported by Huawei, following the Aito M9 developed by Aito.
Earlier this year, BAIC BluePark announced plans for its co-branded smart sedan with Huawei, under the Stelato brand, targeting the premium market segment. The company aims to introduce the premium sedan to international markets in 2024, establishing a distribution and service network in Asia and Europe.
The Stelato S9 will be offered in both single-motor and dual-motor versions, with Huawei supplying the motors. The single-motor version features a motor with a maximum power of 227 kW, while the dual-motor version includes an additional front motor with a maximum power of 158 kW.
Measuring 5,160 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width, and 1,486 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, the Stelato S9 offers ample space and comfort. The model’s batteries are available in Li-ion ternary and “Li-ion ternary + lithium iron manganese phosphate” options, both sourced from CATL.
The Stelato S9 is expected to be priced between RMB 300,000 ($41,390) and RMB 500,000, according to local media outlet Yicai, citing a meeting minute from March 13. Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s smart car solutions division, has indicated that the Stelato S9 will be available for sale in July-August.
