The Honda Motocompacto, a compact and foldable electric scooter, has officially gone on sale at select Honda and Acura dealerships across the United States, as well as through online channels. Boasting the title of one of the most endearing e-scooters on the market, the Motocompacto is designed to cater to urban commuters, students, and city dwellers seeking an efficient last-mile transportation solution.

Unveiled in September, the Motocompacto represents Honda’s innovative foray into the world of electric micro-mobility. This charming scooter is a modern reimagining of the classic Motocompo, originally powered by a 49cc engine and celebrated for its foldability. The new Motocompacto has embraced electrification and urban mobility trends, making it a worthy successor to its predecessor.

The Motocompacto is equipped with a 490-watt (0.6 hp) electric motor, driven by a 6.8Ah battery, and features a convenient onboard charger that allows a quick power-up in just 3.5 hours. With a top speed of 15 mph (24 km/h) and a range of 12 miles (19 km), it offers a practical and eco-friendly solution for those navigating city centers and college campuses.

One of the standout features of the Motocompacto is its foldability. Like the original Motocompo, this electric scooter can be compactly folded, making it small enough to fit into the trunk of a vehicle, enhancing its versatility and portability.

Weighing in at 41.3 lbs (18.7 kg) and constructed with a heat-treated aluminum frame, the Motocompacto is both lightweight and durable. Its stackable design allows for convenient storage, enabling users to transport more than one scooter in the trunk of their electric vehicle.

Safety and user-friendliness were key considerations in the Motocompacto’s design, and Honda claims that it is easy to ride, making it accessible to a broad range of users. Its compact dimensions, measuring 3.7 inches wide, 21.1 inches tall, and 29.2 inches long when folded, facilitate hassle-free use on public transit.

Additionally, the Motocompacto comes equipped with a smartphone app that provides riders with essential information, including battery status, health, trip calculations, and more. This smart feature enhances the overall user experience and connectivity.

As Honda delves into the electrification realm, the Motocompacto aligns with the company’s broader commitment to achieving carbon neutrality and offering innovative, zero-emissions transportation solutions. It complements Honda’s array of all-electric SUVs, contributing to the brand’s environmental sustainability efforts.
