Honda’s first electric SUV, the Prologue, has become a strong contender in the US EV market, surpassing 33,000 units sold in 2024 after setting a new record in December.
The Prologue’s strong sales performance has contributed to Honda’s overall sales growth, as the automaker set new records for SUV, hybrid, and electric vehicle sales in the US.
In December, Honda sold 7,885 Prologue models, surpassing the previous month’s record of 6,800 units. This contributed to a total of over 33,000 Prologues sold in 2024, despite deliveries only beginning in March.
During the second half of the year, the Prologue averaged over 5,000 units sold per month, making it the third best-selling EV in the US in November, trailing only the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.
In comparison, Honda’s Prologue outsold the Hyundai IONIQ 5 with 4,595 units sold in December, though the IONIQ 5 led the category for 2024 with 44,400 units sold.
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E, another top performer, sold 51,745 units last year, securing the second spot in the electric SUV market behind the Tesla Model Y.
Built on GM’s Ultium platform, the Honda Prologue offers a driving range of up to 296 miles and features design tweaks and a sporty driving feel unique to Honda.
The Prologue also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. With a starting price of $47,400, it qualifies for a $7,500 tax credit, bringing the price down to as low as $39,900 before the destination fee.
