Honda e: N2 Concept – what we know so far

A teaser of Honda’s newest electric car candidate has been officially released, whose concept will greet the public. The car, named Honda e:N2, will debut at the fifth China International Import Expo in Shanghai, which is specifically designed to enter a special market as well.

Honda gave birth to it as part of the e:N Series, a sub-brand they created specifically for pure electric powered vehicles. In the future, the Honda e:N Series will be a model line specifically developed for the Chinese market, which has the largest electric vehicle market share in the world.

The prototype e: N2 Concept was created by combining elements of maximum driving sensation and combining the feeling of the driver being one with the vehicle. The exterior design approach of this concept car is sharp as well as dynamic in some parts such as the vehicle body line. The choice of car body colors that highlight metallic elements also makes this vehicle look like a future vehicle.

Meanwhile, the interior design relies on simple lines to provide comfort for passengers as well as drivers. There is also a digital-based cockpit equipped with the latest Honda Connect technology.

“The Honda e:N2 Concept continues the basic values of Honda products that prioritize driving pleasure. In China, Honda continues to deliver electric-based vehicles in line with the growing needs of the electric-based vehicle market to support people’s mobility,” said Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer of Honda Motor Co., LTD in a statement.

The Chinese market is being worked on seriously by Honda in terms of penetration of electric vehicle products. In April, Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd (HMCI), Honda’s subsidiary in China, started sales of the e:NS1 EV model. The sale was handed over to Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., a company that manufactures and sells Honda vehicles in China. The company also sold the all new e:NP1 EV model last May.

The e:N model is the latest variant of the development of Honda’s first electric vehicle model. This product combines the DNA of Honda Monozukuri (the art of creating things) which includes the pursuit of originality as well as passion, along with the technological capabilities of China’s electric vehicles. The development of this prototype vehicle carries the concept of inspiring many people and providing a new experience of mobility using electric vehicles.

Honda also developed the e:N Architecture F which consists of a spontaneously powered electric motor that is easy to control for a variety of travel situations. In addition, the new platform is able to accommodate batteries that carry vehicles as far as 510 kilometers according to the claims of the CLTC base in China. Honda’s unique sporty and driving sensation is embedded through the Japanese manufacturer’s original technology, among others, the aerodynamic design given to its sporty models.

In addition, through this e:N series, Honda shows smart technology to ensure driving safety, security and comfort through smart technology in the vehicle. This includes the Driver Monitoring Camera (DMC), which provides safe driving assistance when a driver is detected to be behaving in a dangerous and fatigued manner. Standard equipment on this EV model includes a 15.1-inch head unit screen in which the Honda Connect 3.0 feature is included.

This EV series is also the first for Honda to apply a fluorescent H logo on the front. This shows the electrification products and the latest generation from Honda. On the rear side of the vehicle, the usual H logo has been replaced with an emblem that reads Honda, which emphasizes the latest generation of products.

The e:N product that has been introduced is part of Honda’s strategy to introduce electric vehicle products. It is planned that there will be 10 models of the e:N series that will be present until 2027. This is part of the acceleration of sales of electric vehicle products in China, including in terms of production and sales.
