Honda Motor Co. has revealed lease pricing details for its upcoming CR-V e:FCEV, a groundbreaking fuel cell plug-in hybrid that combines electric and hydrogen power, aiming to mitigate infrastructure challenges with dual-energy versatility.
Unveiled earlier this year, the CR-V e:FCEV features a 17.7kWh battery providing up to 29 miles of electric range, complemented by a 241-mile hydrogen tank for extended travel, showcasing Honda’s strategy to integrate alternative energy sources into a single vehicle.

Honda’s lease options for the CR-V e:FCEV include three tiers tailored to various mileage needs, with one option offering high-mileage allowance over a shorter term. Monthly costs, while slightly higher than recent electric vehicle leases, include a hydrogen fuel credit to help offset operational expenses amidst current hydrogen prices exceeding $30 per kilogram.

Additionally, lessees in California will benefit from 21 days of complimentary Avis rentals, reflecting Honda’s focus on enhancing customer convenience in the state where the vehicle will initially be available.
Scheduled for release on July 9, Honda plans an initial lease fleet of approximately 300 CR-V e:FCEV units, targeting California as the exclusive leasing market initially. This strategic focus aligns with the state’s robust hydrogen infrastructure, supporting widespread adoption of fuel cell vehicles.
