Hesai Group said it has secured a new design win from a major European automaker involving more than 1 million LiDAR units, strengthening the company’s position in the global advanced driver assistance systems market.

The Nasdaq-listed company announced the agreement on Wednesday but did not identify the automaker involved.

According to Hesai, the order will supply LiDAR systems for more than 10 vehicle models under the European manufacturer’s Chinese joint venture brands.

The company said the deal reflects growing international recognition of its proprietary chip-based LiDAR technology and large-scale manufacturing capabilities.

Hesai said its compact long-range ATX LiDAR system has become a widely adopted component in mass-market advanced driver assistance systems since entering mass production in 2025.

The company added that cumulative deliveries of the ATX product have surpassed 1 million units, while its total order backlog now exceeds 6 million units.

According to Hesai, the company has secured mass-production design wins covering more than 160 vehicle models across 40 automotive brands globally.

Hesai also said its share of China’s passenger vehicle primary LiDAR market reached 55% in March 2026, exceeding the combined market share of all competing suppliers.

The announcement follows a separate agreement disclosed earlier this week in which Mercedes-Benz selected Hesai as a strategic LiDAR partner and confirmed supplier for its Level 3 autonomous driving programs.

Under that partnership, Hesai will support Mercedes-Benz projects in both Europe and China, with production supplied through the company’s Galileo manufacturing facility in Thailand.

Hesai reported net income of 18.3 million yuan ($2.7 million) for the first quarter ended March 31, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of profitability under generally accepted accounting principles.

The company’s quarterly revenue rose 29.6% year-on-year to 680.6 million yuan, while ADAS LiDAR shipments increased 141.9% to 353,441 units during the period.
