Hankook Tire & Technology said it will supply original equipment tires for Porsche’s first all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Macan, using its EV-specific Ventus S1 evo3 ev tire.

The electric Macan, a model introduced as part of Porsche’s electrification strategy, offers a maximum output of 360 horsepower, a driving range of up to 474 kilometers per charge, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo3 ev was selected to meet the vehicle’s performance demands, having passed Porsche’s standards for EV tire technology.

The Ventus S1 evo3 ev is designed to minimize rolling resistance and enhance energy efficiency through a dedicated electric vehicle compound. It features a wide tread block for wet and dry grip, a double carcass construction for high-load resistance, and a rigid bead structure for high-speed stability. The tire also earned the ‘NE0’ marking, indicating approval for use on new electric vehicles.

“With this supply of original equipment tires, we have strengthened our position as a key facilitator in Porsche’s electrification sector,” a Hankook representative said. “Following the electric sports car Taycan in 2020, we have now built an electric vehicle portfolio that includes the Macan, gaining recognition for our electric vehicle tire technology and brand value.”
