GWM has opened pre-sales for the next-generation Tank 300, introducing a significantly updated version of one of the flagship models in its premium off-road vehicle lineup.

The company began accepting pre-orders on Monday, with the official market launch scheduled for July 19.

Plug-In Hybrid Models Lead Launch

Pre-sales are currently available for two plug-in hybrid variants.

The Tank 300L Hi4-T is priced at 259,800 yuan (approximately $38,320), while the Hi4-Z version is available for 269,800 yuan.

GWM has also opened reservations for an internal combustion engine version of the SUV, although pricing for that model has yet to be announced.

According to the automaker, the latest Tank 300 incorporates 553 design and engineering improvements, with more than half of its components redesigned or upgraded. It also marks the first time the model has been equipped with GWM’s Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Larger Design and Extended Driving Range

The updated SUV measures 4,886 millimeters in length, 1,984 millimeters in width, and 1,927 millimeters in height, while the wheelbase has been extended to 3,010 millimeters, representing an increase of 260 millimeters over the previous generation.

Both plug-in hybrid models combine a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with electric motors.

The Hi4-T version features a 130-kilowatt front electric motor paired with a 37.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Under the WLTC testing cycle, it offers an electric-only driving range of 105 kilometers, a combined driving range of 913 kilometers, and accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.1 seconds.

The Hi4-Z variant uses a 180-kilowatt front motor and a 200-kilowatt rear motor together with a 59.6-kilowatt-hour battery. The system produces a combined output of 560 kilowatts, delivers a WLTC electric range of 200 kilometers, offers a total driving range of 1,122 kilometers, and completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds.

Enhanced Smart and Outdoor Features

GWM has also upgraded the vehicle’s intelligent driving capabilities.

The new Tank 300 is equipped with 27 sensing devices, including a LiDAR sensor, enabling advanced driver assistance functions such as Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) across a variety of driving environments.

Inside the cabin, the SUV features the Coffee OS 3 intelligent cockpit system integrated with the Coffee GPT in-vehicle artificial intelligence voice assistant.

Designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, the vehicle supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) power output of up to 6 kilowatts and offers a towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes.

GWM has also introduced a range of factory-installed connected accessories, including an in-vehicle radio system, an oxygen concentrator, and satellite communication equipment, reflecting the company’s strategy to further expand its off-road vehicle ecosystem.
