Great Wall Motors (GWM), China’s SUV and pickup truck manufacturer, has demonstrated remarkable sales growth for new energy vehicles (NEVs), reporting a substantial increase of 163.1 percent year-on-year in July.
According to the statistics released by the company, GWM, headquartered in Baoding, Hebei Province, achieved noteworthy success in the NEV market last month. The Ora brand played a pivotal role in driving GWM’s NEV sales, with deliveries of its electric vehicles reaching an impressive 10,116 units.
Closely tailing Ora was Haval, another brand under the GWM umbrella, which recorded NEV sales of 10,105 units. This achievement marked the second consecutive month where Haval’s sales surpassed the 10,000-unit mark, highlighting its sustained growth.
Wey, GWM’s premium marque, secured the third position in NEV sales with the delivery of 6,652 units in July.
The strong momentum extended to GWM’s international sales as well, with a record-breaking performance last month. A remarkable total of 27,007 vehicles were sold outside of China in July, showcasing a notable year-on-year surge of 83.6 percent.
July marked the fifth consecutive month during which GWM’s overseas sales eclipsed the 20,000-unit threshold. The cumulative overseas sales for GWM from January to July reached an impressive 150,937 units, registering an outstanding year-on-year growth of 94.7 percent.
The collective accomplishments propelled GWM’s overall sales for July to 109,091 units, reflecting a commendable increase of 7.03 percent compared to the same period last year. Throughout the initial seven months of the year, GWM successfully delivered a total of 628,317 vehicles, affirming its strong market presence and growth trajectory.
