The first phase is designed with an annual capacity of 20 GWh, with trial production expected to begin in 2026 and full operations starting in 2027. The factory will primarily serve the European Union market and create about 1,300 jobs in the Šurany region during the initial phase.

Gotion announced plans in December 2024 to invest €2.514 billion ($2.91 billion) in new battery production bases in Slovakia and Morocco, with the Slovakian project accounting for up to €1.234 billion. The plant is being developed by Gotion InoBat Batteries (GIB) EnergyX Slovakia, a joint venture in which Gotion holds an 80 percent stake and local firm InoBat Auto jsa owns 20 percent.
