Public transport operator Go-Ahead London has placed an order for 32 electric buses from Alexander Dennis (ADL) to enhance its zero-emission fleet in the British capital. The order, announced for early 2025, includes the Enviro100EV, the smallest electric model in ADL’s lineup, designed for navigating narrow streets and housing estates across Transport for London (TfL) routes.
The 8.5-meter-long Enviro100EV electric buses can accommodate up to 41 passengers. Equipped with 354 kWh batteries from Impact Clean Power Technology, these buses are capable of covering up to 450 kilometers on a single charge, ensuring a long operating life without the need for battery replacement. The buses also feature Voith’s medium-duty electric drive system, contributing to the vehicle’s efficiency and durability. Voith recently celebrated delivering 1,000 electric bus drives to manufacturers in the UK, including ADL and Wrightbus.
Neil Gladstone, ADL’s National Account Manager, expressed confidence in the Enviro100EV’s suitability for London’s transport needs, stating, “The Enviro100EV is a great fit for Transport for London’s smallest single deck buses, combining a quality passenger experience with long-lasting driveline and battery technology.” Chris McKeown, Go-Ahead London’s Engineering Director, highlighted the importance of these vehicles in delivering high-quality public transport, adding that the fleet would serve busy outer London routes.
Go-Ahead London, the largest zero-emission bus operator in the city, joins TfL’s mission to transition the entire bus fleet to zero emissions by 2030. TfL already operates nearly 1,700 zero-emission buses, and several operators are expanding their electric fleets. Last year, Go-Ahead ordered 141 electric buses from BYD and ADL, while Stagecoach ordered 244 electric buses this summer for London operations.
