In the aftermath of multiple delays, the Tesla Cybertruck entered production last year, marking a significant milestone for the electric vehicle manufacturer. While initial deliveries were primarily limited to Tesla employees and a select group of buyers, a non-employee has now shared a firsthand account of his experience with the Cybertruck, revealing notable quality issues, particularly given its premium price point.
The Cybertruck, initially met with high expectations, has faced criticism for not meeting the initially quoted range, limited configuration options, and a higher-than-promised price tag. However, a closer examination of its technological features unveils an intriguing electric pickup truck. This perspective from a real-world, non-Tesla-employee on the CybertruckOwnersClub forum sheds light on specific quality concerns.

According to the user Susu2142, who recently acquired a Cybertruck, the overall build quality is rated as an “A-” for a Tesla, acknowledging a few misaligned panels upon closer inspection and a slightly glitchy right turn signal control. Notably, the user points out a distinct gap where the rear end of the bed meets the tonneau cover, indicating a potential issue with the assembly process. While the angle of the first photo might exaggerate the misalignment, subsequent images from different perspectives reveal an approximately eighth-inch gap between the two components.
The owner expresses uncertainty about whether this issue is isolated to his truck or if others might share the same problem. Given the extensive involvement of robots in the Cybertruck’s production, the possibility of recurring instances is acknowledged.

However, the more pronounced concern, according to Susu2142, is the turn signal actuator, which reportedly fails to work around “30% of the time.” The owner intends to address this issue with Tesla but has not indicated whether the body panel concern will also be brought to the company’s attention.
Despite these quality issues, the owner commends certain aspects of the Cybertruck, highlighting being “blown away” by the steering, finding the acceleration “more than enough,” and noting the significant attention the vehicle attracts. This real-world perspective raises questions about the overall build quality of the Cybertruck and underscores the challenges faced by Tesla in ensuring consistency in their manufacturing processes.
