German logistics provider W&P has added 20 new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks to its fleet, marking a major step in its push toward sustainable freight transport. The trucks were delivered during an inauguration event for the company’s new charging park at its Prichsenstadt headquarters.

The newly acquired eActros 600 models join three eActros 300 units and about 40 diesel-powered trucks already in operation. The eActros 600 features a 621 kWh battery system and an electric drive axle, allowing for a range of up to 500 kilometres without intermediate charging — a key factor in W&P’s decision.

“The eActros 600 impressed us from the very first moment – not only with its impressive range and efficiency, but also with the holistic concept that Mercedes-Benz Trucks offers around electromobility,” said Alexander Wehr, Managing Director of W&P. “As a freight forwarder focused on sustainable logistics in the recycling and premium textile sectors, it was clear to us: the future is electric.”

Christian Wilz, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Trucks & FUSO Germany, welcomed the move, stating, “Spedition W&P continues to be a strong partner, and their investment in 20 eActros 600 trucks alongside their cutting-edge charging park is a milestone for locally CO2-free freight transport.”

To support the electric fleet, W&P has constructed a dedicated charging park equipped with 56 DC fast-charging points. The facility is powered by a photovoltaic solar installation and a 15,000 kWh battery storage system. Designed with driver comfort in mind, the park includes restrooms, showers, and lounge areas. Given the shortage of heavy-duty vehicle charging infrastructure across Europe, W&P’s installation could play a pivotal role in regional logistics.

While Daimler Trucks is expanding its TruckCharge network across Europe — with plans to establish up to 3,000 fast-charging points by 2030 — it is not yet clear whether W&P’s new facility will be integrated into the semi-public TruckCharge offering.
