Geely’s Livan Auto has unveiled the Livan Smurf, a new micro electric vehicle priced below 36,000 yuan ($5,000), as the company strengthens its presence in China’s competitive urban EV market.
The Livan Smurf, essentially a rebadged version of the Geely Panda Mini EV, is powered by a single electric motor producing 30 kilowatts (40 horsepower) with a top speed of 100 km/h. It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack estimated at 17 kWh, providing a range of around 200 km under China’s CLTC testing cycle, according to CarNewsChina.
The car measures 3,100 mm in length, 1,558 mm in width and 1,610 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,015 mm. With a curb weight of 815 kg, the Smurf is fitted with 14-inch alloy wheels, ABS braking and unibody construction designed for city driving.
Its design emphasizes a compact and playful look, with a narrow closed grille, “Forest Spirit Eye” headlights, and a centrally positioned charging port. Buyers will have a choice of dual-tone or single-tone body finishes. The interior is minimalist with a two-spoke steering wheel, rotary gear selector, floating central display, and color options including Sakura Pink, Castle Grey, and Forest Green.
Geely sold 101,514 units of the Panda Mini EV, the Smurf’s base model, from January to July this year, according to China EV DataTracker. With its sub-36,000 yuan price point, the Livan Smurf is aimed squarely at rivals such as the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Chery QQ Icecream and Bestune Pony in the budget-friendly EV segment.
