Geely has produced its one-millionth Xingyuan electric car, reaching the milestone approximately two years after the compact EV entered the Chinese market.

Geely Galaxy, the automaker’s sub-brand, announced the production milestone on Weibo on Tuesday. The company said the model is currently selling at an average rate of one unit per minute. In overseas markets, the vehicle is marketed as the Geely EX2.

Production Milestone Reached in Two Years

The Xingyuan was launched in China on October 9, 2024, competing primarily with BYD’s Seagull and Dolphin electric models.

Its cumulative production has increased steadily since launch, reaching 200,000 units in May 2025, 600,000 units in March 2026 and 800,000 units in August 2026. The latest milestone brings total production to one million units in October 2026.

The production figures indicate the pace at which Geely has expanded output of the model to meet demand in its home market.

Xingyuan Led China’s Retail Sales in 2025

The Xingyuan recorded retail sales of 465,775 units in China in 2025, making it the country’s best-selling vehicle model by retail volume for the year, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The model’s performance placed it among the key competitors in China’s compact electric vehicle segment, where pricing and vehicle features are important factors in attracting buyers.

However, the Xingyuan’s sales momentum has weakened in 2026, according to the source report. The slowdown comes amid softer conditions in China’s broader automotive market. More recent sales figures were not provided in the announcement.

Overseas Sales Under the Geely EX2 Name

Geely markets the Xingyuan internationally as the EX2, extending the model’s reach beyond China. The company has been expanding its overseas distribution as part of a wider effort to increase exports and build its presence in international markets.

Reaching one million units in cumulative production establishes the Xingyuan as a significant model in Geely’s electric vehicle lineup. Its future performance will depend on domestic demand, competition in China’s small-EV segment and the pace of expansion in overseas markets.
