Geely Chairman Highlights Methanol Vehicles as Lucrative Opportunity for Auto and Energy Industries

Geely Chairman, Li Shufu, emphasized the significant potential of methanol vehicles during his address at the 5th Methanol Vehicles and Fuel Application Equipment Exhibition. Speaking directly at the event, Li stated, “Methanol vehicles will bring about great business opportunities for both the auto industry and the energy industry. I am confident in the green methanol sector and the green methanol vehicle sector.”

Li’s remarks underscored the profound impact that methanol vehicles can have on various sectors. Recognizing the immense prospects for growth, Geely has emerged as a major player in the methanol vehicle market, investing heavily in the development and production of these vehicles.

One of the key advantages of methanol as an energy source is its cleanliness, which aligns with the global focus on reducing carbon emissions. Li pointed out that producing one ton of methanol only requires 1.38 tons of carbon dioxide, making it conducive to China’s dual carbon goals. This attribute positions methanol vehicles as a viable solution for sustainable transportation, contributing to environmental preservation efforts.

Geely’s commitment to advancing methanol vehicle technology is evident in its extensive range of models. With approximately 20 methanol vehicles introduced, the company has catered to both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The successful adoption of Geely’s methanol vehicles is evident, with over 30,000 units already on the roads, collectively amassing an impressive mileage of 10 billion kilometers.

As the demand for environmentally friendly transportation solutions continues to grow, the methanol vehicle sector presents a promising avenue for the automotive and energy industries. With Geely’s steadfast investment and Li Shufu’s unwavering confidence, the future of green methanol vehicles appears to be on a trajectory of success.
