The methanol-electric (e-methanol)-fueled vehicle from Geely began road tests at the Danish port of Aalborg on Monday 28 March. The vehicles tested were two sedans and a heavy truck.

The environmentally friendly vehicle is run using e-methanol produced by the Power to X (PtX) solution, a sustainable, carbon-free and renewable fuel. Denmark wants to promote this type of fuel because e-methanol provides a solution for storing excess renewable energy and stabilizing the country’s electricity grid.

Danish Transport Minister Trine Bramsen, who took part in the road tests of the vehicles, called for more support for these technologies. “This is not about one country alone, it is about the future of the whole world,” Bramsen told Xinhua, quoted Tuesday (29/3/2022).

“So I think it’s important for us to have strong cooperation and share knowledge in this area. It’s not about ourselves, it’s about all of our children and grandchildren.”

Meanwhile, Geely said that the aim of his collaboration with Denmark is to promote green methanol-electricity and green mobility in Europe.
