Ji Yue, the automotive brand born out of a collaboration between Geely and Baidu, has revealed its latest offering, the Ji Yue 07 electric sedan, at the Beijing Motor Show. This marks the brand’s second model following the Ji Yue 01 electric SUV. With a sleek design boasting a drag coefficient of 0.198, the Ji Yue 07 is set to hit the Chinese market later this year.

While the presentation at the motor show showcased the sedan’s body design, details regarding its drive system have not yet been disclosed. The press release, published only in Chinese, and Chinese eMobility media have not provided further insights into the sedan’s specifications.

Ji Yue’s first production model, the Ji Yue 01 SUV, is built on Geely’s SEA electric platform. While no official statement has been made regarding the platform for the Ji Yue 07, it is likely to use the SEA platform, given that Geely holds a 65% stake in the joint venture. The Geely platform offers various battery and electric motor combinations, with the Ji Yue 01 available with either a 71.4 kWh or 100 kWh battery.

The Ji Yue 07’s design language features familiar elements from the SUV model, such as the front-end design with headlights and daytime running light strip. However, the sedan’s flatter front exudes a more sporty and aggressive stance. The side view reveals a long, flat hood merging into a flat windscreen, culminating in a short, fastback-like rear end, emphasizing aerodynamic efficiency.

Aerodynamic optimization is evident in the sedan’s design, with the elimination of traditional door handles in favor of doors that open automatically at the touch of a button. Additionally, the Ji Yue 07 features cameras to support the exterior mirrors, contributing to its impressive drag coefficient of 0.198.

Founded in 2021 as Jidu Auto, the joint venture between Geely and Baidu was later rebranded as Ji Yue. Geely currently holds a 65% stake in the new Hangzhou Jiyuyue Automotive Technology Co Ltd, the entity behind the Ji Yue brand, which has received the production license for the vehicles.
