Aistaland, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand jointly developed by GAC Group and Huawei, has submitted regulatory filings for its second production model, the GX7, moving the extended-range sport utility vehicle (SUV) closer to its planned market launch later this year.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) included the GX7 in its latest vehicle approval catalog released on July 10. The filing covers three variants of the extended-range electric SUV.
Large SUV Offered With Multiple Battery Options
The GX7, which made its public debut during the GT7 launch event in late June, is positioned as a large five-seat SUV. According to the regulatory filing, it measures 5,099 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm.
All three versions use a 1.5-liter turbocharged range-extender engine producing 125 kW and comply with China’s China 6 emissions standard.
Two variants are equipped with approximately 51.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CATL, while the third uses a 67.2-kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) ternary lithium battery sourced from a CATL joint venture.
The three models have curb weights ranging from 2,488 kg to 2,720 kg and share a top speed of 210 km/h.
According to the MIIT filing, WLTC pure-electric driving ranges are rated at 260 km, 270 km and 305 km depending on the variant, while fuel consumption with a depleted battery ranges from 5.75 to 6.15 liters per 100 kilometers.
Huawei Technology Features Prominently
Aistaland has previously said the GX7 will utilize an 800-volt, 5C charging architecture for its range-extending system.
The company estimates the vehicle will offer a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 385 kilometers, support charging from 30% to 80% in less than 10 minutes, and provide a combined driving range of up to 1,400 kilometers.
The SUV is also expected to feature four LiDAR sensors and Huawei’s latest Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver-assistance system.
Additional features include a cargo area equipped with a charging outlet, lighting and integrated storage, targeting customers using the vehicle for camping and long-distance travel.
Brand Expands Product Portfolio
The GX7 represents the second production model from Aistaland, one of several automotive brands created through Huawei’s partnerships with Chinese vehicle manufacturers.
Under the collaboration, Huawei provides intelligent vehicle technologies and engineering support, while GAC is responsible for vehicle manufacturing.
Alongside the GX7, the latest MIIT filing also includes an extended-range version of the Aistaland GT7 sedan.
The new GT7 variant measures 5,050 mm in length with a 3,000 mm wheelbase and combines a 1.5-liter range extender with a 35.7-kWh LFP battery, delivering a WLTC electric-only range of 205 kilometers.
The battery-electric GT7 entered the Chinese market in June with prices ranging from 209,900 yuan to 329,900 yuan. The addition of an extended-range version broadens the model lineup and expands the brand’s offerings in China’s premium NEV segment.
