Electric motorcycles are steadily shaping the future of urban mobility around the world, with Europe and Asia witnessing an abundance of practical and commuter-focused models. In contrast, the US market has seen a surge of performance-oriented concept machines, some of which, like those from Zero, have gained significant traction.
Among the standout performance-focused concepts is the Fuell Fllow electric motorcycle, the brainchild of Erik Burrell, founder and former chairman of the Buell Motorcycle Company, renowned for pioneering modern motorcycle technology with over 130,000 Buell motorcycles produced to date. Although introduced in 2019, the Fuell Fllow has recently opened pre-orders for $9,500 USD, with deliveries expected to commence in 2024.
Fuell’s vision for the Fllow is to redefine urban travel by offering riders a unique, innovative, upgradable, and attractive electric motorcycle. While such statements may seem commonplace in marketing jargon, Fuell’s approach to bringing this vision to life is genuinely impressive.
The Fllow-1S model boasts a continuous power output of 47 horsepower, while the entry-level Fllow-1 offers 15 horsepower. Both versions utilize the company’s proprietary patent-pending Axially Integrated Transverse Flux Wheel Motor, delivering substantial torque—553 pound-feet, to be precise. The motorcycle claims a top speed of 85 miles per hour and accelerates from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds.
The Fllow’s battery packs 10 kilowatt-hours of capacity, providing a range of approximately 150 miles on a single charge. Equipped with fast-charging technology, the bike can recharge in under 30 minutes. Fuell also emphasizes the bike’s future-proof nature, as the battery is designed to be upgradable with more sophisticated options as they become available in the market.
Fuell’s focus on adaptability and technology is evident in the Fllow’s modular design, allowing key components to be upgraded when necessary. The motorcycle also incorporates connectivity features, enabling over-the-air software updates to enhance performance and functionality.
With plans to initiate deliveries in 2024, Fuell aims to present the Fllow as a futuristic and performance-oriented electric motorcycle, catering to urban mobility needs while prioritizing technology, range, and user experience. As the electric mobility revolution continues, motorcycles like the Fuell Fllow play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban transportation.
