Ford has launched the all-electric version of its best-selling vehicle in Europe, the Puma. The new electric Ford Puma Gen-E comes with a refreshed design, energy-efficient powertrain, and increased interior space, marking a significant upgrade for the beloved compact crossover.
Jon Williams, General Manager of Ford Model E and Blue in Europe, described the Puma Gen-E as “our best ever Puma,” emphasizing that it offers “the most fun-to-drive experience yet.” The electric version features a sleek new front design, inspired by the Mustang Mach-E, with a shield replacing the traditional grille. Other design upgrades include a rear spoiler and new wheels, which help improve aerodynamics and overall performance. Ford claims the changes make the Puma Gen-E more efficient, allowing it to “slice through the air more efficiently for even better performance.”
One standout feature of the new electric Puma is its GigaBox, which provides class-leading luggage capacity of up to 574 liters, offering more storage space than many larger SUVs. The Puma Gen-E also includes a 43-liter front trunk (frunk) for added convenience. The vehicle’s electric powertrain provides a WLTP range of up to 234 miles (376 km), with a city range of up to 325 miles (523 km), making it well-suited for daily commutes. Additionally, with charging speeds of up to 100 kW, the Puma Gen-E can charge from 10% to 80% in just 23 minutes.
Inside, the Puma Gen-E features a 12.8-inch driver display and a 12-inch infotainment screen, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Ford has kept many physical buttons, including climate controls, for a more intuitive user experience. Advanced features include Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control and Dynamic Matrix LED headlights with Predictive Dynamic Bending Light.
The all-electric Ford Puma is built at Ford’s Craiova, Romania plant alongside its gas-powered counterpart. The Puma Gen-E is available for order starting December 3, 2024, with deliveries expected in spring 2025. In Europe, the electric Puma starts at around $38,800 (€36,900), with the Premium trim available for $41,500 (€39,400). In the UK, pricing begins at approximately $38,000 (£29,995).
