Ford is introducing a new edition of its electric crossover, the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special, marking the first time the California Special style package has been applied to an electric vehicle. The package draws on the Mustang’s heritage while giving the Mach-E its own identity in the EV lineup.
“There is something about the idea of the California spirit that has always been associated with the Mustang brand, and now Mustang Mach-E joins as part of the family,” said Kristen Keenan, Ford’s color and material designer.

The California Special package first appeared in 1968, with over 4,000 two-door Mustangs produced featuring signature red and black accents. For the 2026 models, Ford has modernized the look for both the two-door Mustang and the Mach-E, introducing new design elements that reflect the electric SUV’s position in the Mustang family.
Exterior updates for the Mach-E include a Rave Blue color scheme as the centerpiece of the package, 20-inch carbonized gray wheels with a printed GT/CS badge, an illuminated blue Mustang pony emblem on the grille, and a hood graphic inspired by the California coastline. “It has the California Special wordmark on the hood, with radiating sunset line in layered gray, black, and a blue accent representing the ocean,” said Stefan Taylor, Ford exterior designer.

Inside, the Mach-E California Special features Performance seats with Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko materials, accented by reflective blue and silver stripes. The center console, steering wheel, and floor mats mirror the seat detailing, emphasizing a cohesive, premium cabin experience.
Performance specifications remain strong, with the GT model offering an EPA-estimated 280 miles of range, 480 horsepower, and up to 700 lb-ft of torque. The California Special package is priced at $2,495 above the GT base, which starts at $53,395. Orders for the 2026 Mustang Mach-E open on October 22, with deliveries expected in early 2026.
