Ford has significantly reduced prices for its electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia, following a trend among automakers in the country. The price cuts apply to models such as the all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV and the E-Transit van.

The price of the E-Transit van has been slashed by AUD$15,000, now starting at AUD$89,990 from the previous price of AUD$104,990. Similarly, the Mustang Mach-E has seen price reductions, with the Select variant now starting at $64,990 after an $8,000 price drop.

Ford’s entry into Australia’s EV market last year has been marked by these price adjustments. The company has lowered the price of the Mach-E by a total of $15,000 since its release in the country.

The price cuts in Australia’s EV market are not unique to Ford. Other automakers have also reduced prices, with some EVs seeing reductions of up to AUD$20,000. This trend has been attributed to the introduction of more affordable Chinese EVs, which has prompted adjustments in pricing from established automakers.

According to car expert Paul Maric, “It’s all been spurred on by Chinese brands who have started bringing in much more affordable electric vehicles to what we’re used to, and typically what happens with volume brands is they don’t really adjust their pricing after it’s set.”

These price adjustments reflect a significant shift in the Australian EV market, making electric vehicles more accessible to a wider range of consumers.
