Ford said it would make a recall for the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck. The affected product is estimated at 2,866 units, with details of 2,666 in the United States and 200 in Canada.

According to a Reuters report, the recall of the Ford F-150 Lightning this time is the first for an electric pickup truck produced by the Ford Motor Company.

The recall was made after a software issue was discovered that could have resulted in the failure to provide critical information regarding low tire pressure.

Ford says that the light for the Ford F-150 Lightning tire pressure monitoring system may not turn on when it needs to pass data. Also it may not be able to provide adequate warning about low tire pressure.

That’s because the recommended tire cold inflation pressure value is set to 35 psi. While the correct inflation pressure is 42 psi.

Ford says that low tire pressure can lead to poor handling of the vehicle and possible loss of control of the vehicle, which could increase the risk of an accident. There are no reports of accidents caused by this issue.

Dealers will update the control unit module software for vehicles that have not yet been delivered and for customers seeking immediate repair. Repair about 20 minutes.

Ford will also provide software updates via over-the-air updates within 30 days for all customers.
