Fisker appointed new executives for their manufacturing line. Alpay Uguz was appointed Senior Vice President of Fisker Global Manufacturing. Alpay Uguz previously worked at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina as general manager for the SUV brand.
Alpay Uguz’s task is to oversee the company’s global manufacturing with a target of producing one million electric vehicles annually by 2027. Specifically Uguz will focus on “lean manufacturing and innovative engineering” to reduce spare parts from the early stages of development.
Most of Uguz’s work was in the design and development phase of the Fisker electric car, as the head of production would not be responsible for his own factory.
Fisker will design and develop their electric vehicle. Meanwhile, production will be carried out by contract producers such as Magna and Foxconn.
“Alpay’s wealth of hands-on, global manufacturing experience will boost Fisker’s already ultra-fast development process, creating greater efficiency by incorporating the latest in new manufacturing methods,” says the CEO Fisker
Uguz hopes to apply his experience in manufacturing to help Fisker produce electric vehicles.
“I’m excited to apply my knowledge of lean manufacturing deployment, new product launches, and appreciation for innovation in Fisker’s fast-paced environment, utilizing my cross-cultural experience working in China, Germany, the UK, and the US.” Uguz said
Fisker is targeting to produce their first electric car, the Ocean e-SUV, in November at Magna in Graz.
