Fiat, the iconic Italian automaker, is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the launch of two all-new models in the second half of 2023. While the brand’s European lineup is already fully electrified, with the exception of the 500e, which is its only pure EV offering, the company plans to change this anomaly by introducing the two new EVs.

The announcement was made during Stellantis’ presentation of its full-year financial results for 2022. Although no information was given about the bodystyle of the upcoming EVs, previous comments made by Fiat’s CEO, Olivier FranƧois, and various reports from European media provide some insight into what we can expect from the new models.

FranƧois has confirmed that Fiat plans to add four EVs to its lineup by 2027, including a supermini and three crossovers. One of the two new launches expected in 2023 will be a successor to the Fiat Punto. This yet-unnamed model will be positioned above the 500e and share its underpinnings with the Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa, Citroen C3, and Lancia Ypsilon. Fiat is said to be offering both electric and mild-hybrid powertrain options for its new small hatchback.

The second new EV launch is the long-rumored Fiat 600, which is set to compete in the popular B-SUV segment. This high-riding model will combine a compact footprint with more practicality than conventional hatchbacks. The Fiat 600 is expected to be closely related to the Jeep Avenger and produced in the same factory in Tychy, Poland, and will be available in both ICE-powered and EV forms.

Fiat’s fully electric 500e, which has been available in Europe for four years, is set to make its way to North America in the first quarter of 2024. The urban EV is offered in hatchback, cabriolet, and 2+1 bodystyle flavors, and last year, the Abarth 500e was launched as the performance-focused variant, making it the first fully electric hot hatch from the scorpion brand.

Overall, Fiat’s expansion of its EV lineup is a positive step towards a more sustainable future for the brand, and we can expect more exciting developments in the coming years.
