Fastned, a Dutch electric vehicle (EV) charging company, has opened its 250th charging station in Europe and its 14th in the UK. The new charging station is located on the A12 motorway at Martlesham Park & Ride in East Anglia, and features six 300 kW charging bays that can provide up to 300 miles of range in approximately 20 minutes. The station also boasts a solar canopy to help EV drivers locate the site and stay dry while charging, as well as a variety of payment methods.
Fastned plans to open two more sites in the UK later this summer. Tom Hurst, UK Country Manager for Fastned, stated that the company is excited to welcome drivers from Martlesham and beyond to their highly visible and easy-to-use ultra-rapid charging sites.
The Rt Hon Therese Coffey MP, Environment Secretary, opened the new station and emphasized the importance of investment in EV infrastructure to support a cleaner and greener future. Fastned’s Martlesham site follows a larger charging park that the company opened in January 2023, and marks Fastned’s 13th charging hub in the UK and its 7th in the North-East of the nation.
Fastned has built over 250 fast charging stations in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Belgium, France, and Switzerland. The company’s largest HPC park in Scotland, which uses the same 300 kW DC charging stations, was opened in May 2022. Fastned is listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
