Faraday Future has unveiled the first teaser image of its upcoming Faraday X (FX) prototype, marking the official launch of the vehicle’s development and testing phase. The camouflaged prototype, transported on a trailer, offers a glimpse of the automaker’s plans to position itself as a leader in the Artificial Intelligence Electric Vehicle (AIEV) market.
The teaser, though visually underwhelming, reveals a few design elements, including prominent wheel arches, angular shoulder lines, and door-mounted mirrors. The prototype also features a greenhouse extending beyond the front doors and what appears to be a badge on the front fender. Faraday confirmed the first FX prototypes have reached their Chinese headquarters and are scheduled to be shipped to Los Angeles for further development.
The FX lineup will include two models: the FX 5 and FX 6. The FX 5 is envisioned as a “large-space sporty AIEV” with a price range of $20,000 to $30,000, while the FX 6 will cater to families, priced between $30,000 and $50,000. Both models are expected to offer electric and range-extended powertrains, though technical details remain undisclosed. Production is anticipated to begin by the end of 2025, contingent on securing necessary funding.
Faraday Future aims to become the “Toyota of the AIEV era,” but challenges remain. In its forward-looking statement, the company acknowledged significant obstacles, including its limited operational history, financial losses, and ongoing funding requirements. Despite these hurdles, the launch of the FX prototype signals a critical step toward realizing its ambitions in the competitive electric vehicle market.
