XPeng has introduced the G9L, an extended luxury version of its G9 electric SUV, expanding its flagship lineup with additional passenger space, premium seating and high-power charging technology. The all-electric model is being introduced across 64 countries, with European orders now open and the first customer deliveries scheduled for December 2026.

Measuring 5.12 meters long, the G9L is designed for buyers seeking a spacious electric SUV with six- or seven-seat configurations. Its key technical features include an 800-volt electrical architecture, a 110 kWh battery and peak DC charging power of up to 540 kW.

XPeng G9L Pricing and Variants

XPeng is initially offering the G9L in three configurations, all featuring the top-of-the-range Ultra trim.

Variant Seating Drive Maximum Power WLTP Range Starting Price
G9L RWD Long Range Ultra 7 seats Rear-wheel drive 270 kW 591 km €74,600
G9L AWD Performance Ultra 6 seats All-wheel drive 430 kW 553 km €79,600
G9L AWD Performance Ultra 7 seats All-wheel drive 430 kW 553 km €85,600

All three versions use a 110 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery.

The rear-wheel-drive version prioritizes driving range, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations offer greater power and a choice between six- and seven-seat layouts.

Dimensions and Interior Space

The XPeng G9L measures approximately 5,120 mm in length, positioning it as a large electric SUV with an extended cabin.

Buyers can choose between a six-seat configuration featuring two individual second-row seats and a seven-seat layout with an additional passenger seat in the third row.

The individual second-row seats are designed to provide greater comfort than a conventional bench, with heating, ventilation and massage functions. The third row also features electrically foldable seats with heating and ventilation.

This configuration makes the G9L suitable for families seeking a three-row electric SUV with a more premium passenger experience.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

The G9L is available with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive powertrains.

The rear-wheel-drive Long Range Ultra produces 270 kW (367 hp) through a single electric motor. Its configuration is designed to balance performance with the model’s maximum claimed WLTP range of 591 km.

The all-wheel-drive Performance Ultra uses a dual-motor system producing a combined 430 kW (585 hp). Both the six-seat and seven-seat versions offer a claimed WLTP range of up to 553 km.

The higher-output AWD system provides a performance-oriented alternative for buyers who prioritize power and traction over the longest available driving range.

110 kWh Battery and Driving Range

All three launch variants use a 110 kWh NCM battery, providing a common battery capacity across the lineup.

Driving range varies according to the powertrain and seating configuration. The RWD Long Range Ultra delivers up to 591 km under the WLTP combined cycle, while the AWD Performance Ultra models offer up to 553 km.

These figures are WLTP-rated European ranges. Actual driving distance will vary depending on driving speed, weather, road conditions, passenger load and the use of climate-control systems.

800-Volt Architecture and 540 kW Fast Charging

The XPeng G9L uses an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports peak DC charging power of up to 540 kW.

Under optimal charging conditions, XPeng says the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 12 minutes.

However, reaching the maximum charging rate depends on charger compatibility, battery temperature, battery state of charge and other operating conditions. Charging stations capable of delivering 540 kW remain relatively uncommon in Europe, so actual charging times will depend on the infrastructure available.

For home charging, the G9L includes a 22 kW AC charger as standard equipment, allowing owners with compatible electrical installations to recharge without relying exclusively on public DC fast chargers.

Premium Seating and AI-Controlled Comfort

The G9L’s cabin emphasizes comfort through electronically adjustable Nappa leather seats and multiple heating, ventilation and massage functions.

The front seats include lumbar and thigh support, along with AI-controlled active adaptive seating technology. XPeng says the system uses sensor technology to adapt seat support to the occupants’ body shapes.

The second-row Nappa leather seats also offer heating, ventilation and a ten-point massage function. In the six-seat configuration, the individual seats include armrests.

The third row adds electrically folding seats with heating and ventilation, extending the comfort-focused equipment beyond the first two rows.

Digital Cockpit and Entertainment System

The G9L features a fully digital cockpit built around a 17.3-inch central touchscreen for infotainment and navigation.

The system integrates Google Maps, combining map data and real-time traffic information with intelligent charging-route planning.

An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel, while a head-up display projects essential driving information into the driver’s forward field of view.

Rear passengers receive a ceiling-mounted 21.4-inch 3K entertainment display that retracts when not in use. A 23-speaker sound system provides audio throughout the cabin.

XPeng has also incorporated a dedicated interior area designed with younger passengers in mind, using materials selected for family-oriented use.

Turing AI Chips and Next Generation Pilot

The XPeng G9L is based on the company’s latest intelligent computing platform and uses proprietary Turing AI chips to support advanced computing functions.

These chips form the foundation for Next Generation Pilot (NGP), which is based on XPeng’s Vision-Language-Action 2.0 system, or VLA 2.0.

XPeng says the vehicle is prepared for Level 2++ partially automated driving. Subject to local legislation and regulatory approval, the company expects the relevant NGP functions to become available through an over-the-air software update starting in 2027.

The proposed functionality should not be confused with fully autonomous driving. Its availability and permitted use will depend on the applicable regulations and the software features approved for each market.

European Production at Magna Steyr

European versions of the XPeng G9L will be manufactured by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.

The facility already produces other XPeng models, including the G6, G9 and P7+. The G9L is expected to become the fourth XPeng model assembled at the Austrian plant.

Production is expected to use a semi-knocked-down approach, involving the final assembly of prefabricated components supplied from China.

XPeng has reported completing its first production trial at Magna Steyr. The company also planned for a European pre-series G9L to travel approximately 1,324 km from Graz to the Paris Motor Show, demonstrating charging capability, safety systems and driving dynamics under real-world road conditions.

Market Position and Competition

The XPeng G9L targets the premium electric SUV segment, where passenger comfort, long-distance capability and charging speed are important purchasing considerations.

Its extended body and optional six-seat configuration distinguish it from more conventional five-seat electric SUVs. The 110 kWh battery, 800-volt architecture and 540 kW peak charging capability also position it as a technology-focused alternative for buyers who regularly travel longer distances.

European production at Magna Steyr is another important part of the model’s market strategy, giving XPeng an established local assembly base as it expands its presence across international markets.

Conclusion
