The Proton e.MAS 7, Proton’s highly anticipated all-electric SUV, has officially launched following an extended teaser phase. Available in two variants – Prime and Premium – the e.MAS 7 combines performance, practicality, and advanced technology to meet the demands of modern EV buyers.

The SUV comes in five striking color options: Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Lithium White, and Quartz Rose. However, Proton has kept the interior consistent across all options with an elegant Indigo Blue cabin theme.

Under the hood, both the Prime and Premium variants of the e.MAS 7 are equipped with a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 PS. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 175 km/h. The difference between the two trims lies in the battery capacity. The Prime model features a 49.52kWh battery, providing a WLTP-rated range of 345 km.

In contrast, the Premium variant boasts a larger 60.22kWh battery, extending the range to 410 km. For charging, both models support AC charging at 11kW, with full charging times of 4.9 hours for the Prime and 6.1 hours for the Premium. DC charging capabilities differ, with the Prime supporting up to 80kW and the Premium accommodating a faster 100kW rate, enabling a 30-80% charge in just 20 minutes.

Inside the e.MAS 7, Proton has emphasized a minimalist design with a technology-focused approach. Both variants feature a 10.2-inch LCD digital instrument cluster and a large 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by a sleek two-spoke steering wheel. The Premium variant adds further luxury with a 13.8-inch head-up display, ventilated front seats, a high-quality 16-speaker audio system, and a panoramic glass roof for an enhanced driving experience.

Proton also announced that the e.MAS 7 will run on Meizu’s Flyme OS, diverging from the ATLAS system found in its internal combustion engine models. While Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are absent at launch, Proton promises an OTA update within six months to integrate these features.

The Proton e.MAS 7 doesn’t compromise on space and practicality, offering a generous wheelbase of 2,750 mm. At 4,615 mm long and 1,901 mm wide, the SUV is larger than the Proton X70 and provides D-segment-level roominess. Additional features include 33 storage compartments, a 461-litre boot, and a total of 1,877 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded, ensuring ample room for families and travelers.

Safety and driving assistance are a priority in the e.MAS 7, with both variants equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as standard. This helped the SUV earn a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating. Additionally, Proton offers peace of mind with a six-year warranty for the vehicle and an eight-year or 160,000 km coverage for the battery.

The Proton e.MAS 7 is priced competitively, starting at RM109,800 for the Prime and RM123,800 for the Premium. Early adopters are in for a treat, as the first 3,000 buyers will enjoy a RM4,000 discount. Proton has also included a special launch package worth RM8,000, featuring a free home charger, V2L adaptor, and attractive low-interest financing options.

With its powerful performance, modern features, and practical design, the Proton e.MAS 7 marks a significant milestone in Proton’s electric vehicle journey, offering an appealing option for EV enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike.
