Leapmotor’s new B01 sedan enters China’s compact electric vehicle segment with a strong focus on specifications and performance, offering a competitive mix of range, power, smart features, and practicality.

Based on the automaker’s LEAP 3.5 architecture, the B01 is the first pure electric sedan in the B series and is now open for pre-sale in five trims priced between RMB 105,800 and RMB 135,800 ($14,760 – $18,950).

The B01 offers two range options depending on the selected battery: a 56.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack enabling 550 km of CLTC range, and a 67.1 kWh version delivering up to 650 km. Both configurations support fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

As a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, the B01 is powered by an electric motor available in two outputs—132 kW (177 hp) and 160 kW (215 hp)—with peak torque of 175 Nm and 240 Nm, respectively. This setup allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.4 seconds.

In terms of dimensions, the B01 measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. Designed for aerodynamic efficiency, it achieves a low drag coefficient of 0.197 Cd and features a fastback roofline with a 17.2° slope.

The vehicle provides a standard trunk capacity of 460 liters, supplemented by 70 liters of additional space under the trunk floor and 26 storage areas throughout the interior.

Technology is another highlight. The B01 runs on Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus, powered by the 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, and includes an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel alongside a 14.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen.

Voice interaction is supported through an integrated AI voice assistant. Two higher-end trims feature roof-mounted LiDAR and a total of 27 sensors enabling 26 advanced driving functions—including highway and urban navigation on autopilot and automated parking—powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 intelligent driving chip.

With its strong hardware, smart features, and affordable pricing, the Leapmotor B01 is positioned as a practical yet high-tech choice for EV buyers in China’s mid-size sedan segment.
