Kia has introduced the facelifted version of its EV6, featuring improvements in range, features, and design. The updated EV6, revealed on Tuesday, showcases an “evolved” design for the modern era and aims to solidify Kia’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.

Originally released in March 2021 as Kia’s first dedicated electric car based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the EV6 has undergone significant upgrades. With the unveiling of the EV3, EV4, and EV5 (Kia’s next-gen affordable EVs) last year, it became evident that the EV6 was in need of a refresh to align with Kia’s new design theme.

The new EV6 features a range of design upgrades, including redesigned front and rear lights and a wing-shaped bumper design. The rear of the vehicle also showcases Kia’s “Star Map Signature Lighting” with a new wing-shaped design, similar to the front bumper.

One of the major enhancements to the EV6 is the larger battery capacity, now at 84 kWh compared to the previous 77.4 kWh pack. This upgrade enables up to 307 miles (494 km) of range in Korea, up from 295 miles (475 km) in the previous model. The increased energy density also allows for faster charging, with the new EV6 capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes with 350 kW fast charging.

Inside, the new EV6 features Kia’s new ccNC infotainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as SDV-based features like remote smart parking assist 2 and voice recognition. The interior has been upgraded to create a more luxurious and modern space, with a new panoramic curved display, redesigned steering wheel, and improved wireless charging pad.

The new EV6 is priced starting at $40,500 (KRW 55.4 million) for the Long Range and Light trims in Korea. The Air model starts at $42,600 (KRW 58.24 million), while the Earth model is priced at $45,700 (KRW 62.52 million). Additionally, Kia has introduced the GT-Line model with a sportier design, exclusive 20″ wheels, and an added front LED center lamp, starting at $46,200 (KRW 63.15 million).

The new EV6 is expected to launch in June, and with added tax credits, the starting price could be as low as $38,500 (KRW 52.6 million) in Korea.
