Everything You Should know About BYD Song L concept

BYD, the Chinese automaker, has officially unveiled its latest model, the Song L concept, on the first day of the Shanghai auto show. This premium all-electric SUV is part of the Dynasty series and is designed with a coupe-crossover stance, catering to young users who are seeking a stylish and sporty vehicle. The Song L combines BYD’s pioneering technology with a breakthrough design that redefines the aesthetics of the next generation of Dynasty products.

Based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Song L incorporates CTB (cell-to-body) technology and intelligent electric four-wheel drive. It features an electric rear wing and electronic mirrors, which replace traditional mirrors on either side of the vehicle with a camera. This forward-thinking design reduces wind resistance and extends the range of the vehicle. Chinese regulations will allow the use of such mirrors on vehicles starting from July 1.

The Song L is a new member of the Dynasty series, which already includes the Song Max DM-i and Song Pro DM-i. For a long time, the Song family models were the highest-selling BYD models, but they were overtaken by the Qin family models in March. In March, BYD sold 207,080 NEVs (New Energy Vehicles), up 97.45 percent from the same month last year. The Qin family of models sold a record-breaking 40,850 units in March, making it the highest-selling BYD model for the month. The Song family of models sold 40,510 units in March, coming in second place.

In addition to the Song L concept, BYD also unveiled its latest model from the Ocean series, the Chaser 07, with a starting price of RMB 200,000 ($29,090) to 250,000. This B+ class sedan has a length, width, and height of 4,980 mm, 1,890 mm, and 1,495 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. The Chaser 07 is available in two range versions with an NEDC pure electric range of 121 km and 200 km, respectively, and will be launched in the third quarter.

Overall, BYD’s latest models are a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation. The Song L concept and the Chaser 07 demonstrate BYD’s determination to create advanced electric vehicles that cater to the evolving needs and preferences of consumers.
