EverCharge, a California-based provider of EV charging solutions, has recently expressed its admiration for Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging connector, considering it superior to the Combined Charging System (CCS1).

In a blog post, EverCharge highlighted several advantages of the NACS connector, including its lack of moving parts, smaller size, increased power, and overall improved charging experience. The company’s positive assessment of the NACS connector comes after Ford, General Motors, and Rivian announced their adoption of the standard.

In contrast, EverCharge was highly critical of the CCS1, describing it as having a “poor, clunky design and performance.” The company expressed frustration with the industry’s acceptance of CCS as the standard charging port, despite acknowledging its flaws. However, EverCharge is now fully supporting NACS and is prepared to offer NACS connectors for its DC fast-charging products. The company’s website already displays the NACS plug as an available option alongside the CCS1 for its 240-kilowatt (kW) DC fast charger model.

While it remains unclear when production and deliveries of NACS-compatible chargers will begin, EverCharge’s inclusion of the NACS plug as an option indicates its readiness to accept orders. The company takes pride in offering charging solutions that cater to both NACS and CCS vehicles, ensuring future-proof charging hardware to meet the needs of current and future EV drivers.

With its commitment to innovative charging solutions and its support for the NACS connector, EverCharge is positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly evolving EV charging industry.
