Energica Motor Experiences 67% Surge in Global Electric Motorcycle Sales in 2022

Energica Motor has announced impressive 2022 turnover estimates, with unit sales up by approximately 52% and motorcycle revenues increasing by 67% compared to the same period in 2021. The company attributes this success to its fast-growing certified dealer network, which saw the addition of 15 certified dealers in the US and 33 new certified dealers across the rest of the world.

One of the key drivers of Energica’s growth is its Energica Inside program, which partners with other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to solve fleet electrification challenges. The company has unique expertise in electric automotive engineering, allowing for all high-voltage battery engineering to be performed in-house, as well as software, firmware, hardware, and style engineering. Energica Inside is currently in advanced talks with two-wheeler, agriculture, and marine OEMs.

“Thanks to the significant investments and strategy made together with Ideanomics, I am proud to confirm that Energica’s 2022 performance shows we are becoming established as a leader in the EV market. Our success is ultimately a reflection of our customers’ belief that Energica makes the best electric motorcycles on the market. I am incredibly proud and honored by the great feedback Energica received in the first half of the year, especially with the launch of the Experia. With Experia, Energica is rewriting the rules of two-wheeled electric mobility.” said Livia Cevolini, CEO of Energica Motor Company

Energica Inside recently signed a commercial agreement with electric tractor manufacturer Solectrac, an Ideanomics subsidiary, to provide battery pack development, vehicle control unit (VCU) development, and prototype assembly and testing. This partnership is just one example of how Energica is leveraging its expertise to expand into new markets.

The company also reports a substantial increase in pre-sale orders across its product range, particularly for its new Experia sport-touring motorcycle. The Experia has proven popular with police forces worldwide following the delivery of 88 Energica EsseEsse9+ motorcycles to the Indonesian National Police for use during the G20 Bali Summit. The bike’s superior weather protection, low-speed handling, and long range make it ideal for police use.

Energica’s management is looking forward to continuing the momentum into 2023, with plans to expand its dealer network further. The company’s innovative approach to electric motorcycle engineering, coupled with its partnerships and collaborations, positions it well for continued growth and success in the years to come.
