Spanish energy provider Endesa and wholesale supplier Transgourmet Ibérica are collaborating to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Spain. The joint initiative involves the deployment of 134 EV charging points across 36 GM Cash-Gros Mercat locations, catering to both public and private users.

The project includes a mix of charging stations with capacities ranging from 22 kW to 300 kW. Endesa plans to install 12 ultra-fast 300 kW chargers at three locations, 62 ultra-fast 150 kW chargers at 31 sites, eight fast chargers with 50/60 kW capacity at six locations, and 52 22 kW chargers at 27 sites. Currently, 72 of the charging points are operational, with the remaining 62 in various stages of completion.

Twenty-six of the charging locations will operate 24/7, while the other ten will be accessible only during store hours. Specific site availability details were not disclosed.

“This alliance represents an important milestone in our strategy to promote sustainable and electric mobility,” said Davide Ciciliato, general marketing director of Endesa. “The project is tailored to provide a comprehensive solution for EV drivers, whether they’re charging while shopping or need quick recharges for continued journeys, thanks to the strategic locations of these chargers.”

Albert Pérez, sustainability manager at Transgourmet, emphasized the partnership’s alignment with the company’s environmental goals. “We want to facilitate access to electric mobility, allowing our customers to recharge their vehicles while shopping. It’s a significant step in our sustainability strategy, reflecting our commitment to reducing emissions and protecting the environment,” Pérez noted.

Users can operate the chargers via Endesa’s electric mobility app, which also allows reservations up to 15 minutes in advance. Endesa, which has already deployed nearly 6,000 EV charging points across Spain, sees this initiative as a key component of its broader sustainable mobility strategy.

The project underscores the growing commitment of Spanish businesses to support EV adoption and reduce carbon emissions through accessible charging solutions.
